How to Paint a Car
Painting a car is very easy once you get used to it whether you want to learn it so you can paint your own car or whether you want to learn to paint a car so you can earn a bit more money by painting other peoples.
What You Need
First off you want to acquire the proper tools and products which include paint, primer, clear coat, spray gun, compressor and sandpaper.
You want to sand the whole car down you may even want to take the engine out so you can paint the engine bay. Once you have sanded the car down you will have to wash and wipe your car down so you don't get any dust in the paint it is also a good idea to use a degreaser.
Primer
You should then apply the primer using your spraygun but you can also use primer out of a spraycan. The way to apply primer is start at the top and work your way down making sure not to miss any areas. You should apply three layers while allocating plenty of drying time. You then want to sand it with 600 grit sandpaper so the paint has something to stick to and then wipe it down again.Painting
Now its time to paint so fill your spray gun up with the chosen color of paint and set the air pressure to 27 P.S.I then you want to start at the top and slowly work your way down overlapping 75% so you don't miss any areas. You have to be very careful not to get any runs on the paint as this will ruin all your hard work. You get runs by having too much paint at one time.
Clear Coat
Now it's one of the final stages of the process applying the clear coat this is a transparent layer of paint to protect your paint from things like stone chips. To apply just start with the roof and work your way down and again be careful not to make it run. You may now chose whether to wet sand the clear coat with 2000grit sandpaper to take any dust nibs out.
Tips
Now all you need to do is wax your car and your ready for a night out on the town but remember to always wear a respirator and not to get any paint on your body you can stop this from happening by using some overalls.
