How to Drift a Car
Drifting has been an icon in Japan for years with all the young people doing it over there. Although it takes a lot of skill and practice once you get the hang of drifting you will be having the time of your life. Please remember that drifting can seriously injure or kill someone so only do it on a race track and never the road.
Good Drift Cars
Fist off to do a good drift you need a good drift car. Here are some examples of good drift cars Nissan Silvia, Nissan Skyline, Mazda rx7 and Toyota Supra although they make good drift cars they will need a few modifications. These modifications include things such as installing a Turbocharger and getting a great suspension set up. Such as buying adjustable suspension which is a lot stronger than stock.
Trying out Drifting
It is a good idea to try drifting if it your first time on a big concrete area where there is nothing to hit your car into and also you wont get embarrassed as no one will be watching you. First of all you want to try doing a donut to do this accelerate the car very quickly and when you are almost red lining in second gear start turning the steering wheel sharply and put you foot on the clutch. Now pull the hand break up very quickly and then slam it back down but just after you have done that let the clutch go and power on with the throttle. You should now be able to control the car with how much throttle you have on so if you have more on you will go more sideways and likely spin out if you don't have enough your car will just drive like normal.
After you have tried that you are now ready to try drifting around a corner. To do this it is much like doing a donut but instead of still going you have to turn the wheel the other way once you are almost around the corner and then put a lot of throttle on and you should have just successfully just done your first drift.
Tips
A few tips to remember are although you can sort of drift in a FWD it is always recommended to use a RWD instead. Also always use tires that still have tread on them as drifting with bald tires makes it that much more dangerous and remember have fun!
