Foremost you will require nails, clips, fasteners, asphalt shingles, roof beam ties, tarpaper, scaffolding, drip edge, roof trusses. Along with these you should also have the square frame, measuring tape, canvas nail belts, hammers (both framing and claw), the design of the roof, guns (like nail, caulking and staple). Also keep the basic weapons of carpentry like screwdriver, stepladder and wrench, nail puller, drawing material like pen, chalks or pencils, handsaw and drills that will help you a great deal.
Building the Roof
When you are done with arranging all the material then the time is to get down to building your dream roof. In the first step, arrange the rafters in a straight-line position. Next step is to set in the sheets and for that start from the ridge of the roof in the lower to upper direction. Keep or cut the size of the sheets to the exact desired parameters. Now fit the rafters in the perpendicular position to the sheathing line. After you have arranged all the sheets, start putting in the nails and while putting in the nails remember not to disturb the arrangement and make use of the measurements or the signs to put the nails in exact position.
As you reach the edge of the roof while nailing make sure that before putting in the nails both the adjacent sheets are in proper alignment to each other. Now the priority is to check and increase the stability of the roof and that can be done by confounding the sheathing joints uniformly. Make use of the metal clips into the splices and it will help in increasing stability. While carrying out this whole exercise maintain the alignment of the roof so that structure strength and beauty of the roof is intact. Now your roof is ready for the use and you can enjoy the warmth of your home.
