How to Build a Go Cart

Building a Go Cart is not an easy task and requires a lot of skill and time but the rewards can be very high. Once you have built a Go Kart you will be able to go to track days and race other people to see who has made the fastest and best Go Cart. You will need a lot of parts to make a GO Kart such as a motor depending on the size of the person. The bigger the person the more power you will need so for an adult you should use a 250cc engine and for a kid you should use a 50cc engine. Here are a few of the crucial steps of building a Go Cart.

The Main Stages

Designing The Go Cart

You need to do a lot of research when you are going to build a Go Cart. You need to do it on topics such as what size engine you will have, what the frame will be made out of and what you will use for steering.

Building The Frame

You will need to make the frame out of very strong but light weight materials such as Aluminum and Steel you will need to be able to weld it together which means if you are using a MIG welder you will need to have argon bottle for Aluminum. If you make it out of Steel you will need to paint it very quickly as Steel is prone to rusting.

Safety

It is very important that you make your Go Kart safe especially if it will have your loved ones in it. Things that you can do to make it safe are having a working seatbelt and installing a roll cage this could just be a u shaped piece of pipe that fits onto the frame.

Test it Out

Once you have built the Go Kart you will be able to take it for a test ride to make sure it is going all right. To do this take it to a deserted concrete patch and drive along at about 5 miles an hour and every so often try the breaks. You should also try turning the steering wheel a lot to make sure that it is working fine.
